Liberia Smiles (Dental Clinic)Project Goal: To reduce the incidence of dental disease by providing dental education and treatments, such as restorations, extractions, and cleaning. Project Objectives: To provide dental care for 6,000 people (approx. 10,000 – 12,000 procedures) affected by tooth decay, infections of the mouth, and small oral lesions. To provide dental hygiene/prophylaxis to 600 people. To provide basic dental health education to at least 1,000 elementary and secondary students, as well as the 6,000 patients in the dental clinic. To train 20 teachers to teach oral health in their classrooms. To train 2 Liberians with the skills to be dental assistants and dental hygiene instructors. |
